MLS02
Description
The MLS02 Laser Triangulation Scanner is designed
to provide 2D profile measurement with the output in a software
converted form so that the Y co-ordinates can be used for width or
thickness profiling according to resolution and scan angle.
The measurement is performed by oscillating the triangulation plane via
a mirrored wheel to generate a fine collimated and focused laser beam
diffusely reflected from the surface of the product being measured and
the internal CCD camera recording the image. This image is then
processed by a digital signal processor to calculate the radial distance
from the centre of the mirror axis to the object surface as well as
providing an angular value of its position.
The MLS02 Laser Triangulation Scanners are compact stand-alone units
containing the optics, signal processing and camera unit. The scanner
sweeps both 25° below the horizontal plane and 25° above the horizontal
plane with the distance and angular values provided at a frequency of
6kHz as a digital signal for running in Windows using the MLS02 driver
DLL.
The scanners are delivered with the DLL and a Windows test/demo program.
The output data from the Scanner is RS422 or RS232 serial interface and
a COM port via the DLL. The software converts the polar co-ordinates to
orthogonal XY co-ordinates or presents a profile (table of X, Y values)
for each sweep from one side to the other. The user can specify the Y
increment in the application program and thus the length of the output
as well as length of time the output contains the profile data.
Each Scanner can be supplied with 4 different
measuring ranges and in two versions with differing measuring angle of
either 10° or 50° scan. The MLS02 Laser Triangulation Scanner can
also be provided with 2kHz or 6kHz scan rates giving high or lower
resolution. Customized versions can be supplied with non-standard scan
angles and measuring ranges. Models are available for measuring off
product at 1200°C (2192°F).
