Select-1 Version

Eleven of the thirteen ODS Laser Triangulation Meter models are provided as standard as programmable Select-1 versions .

Theses ODS Select-1 Laser Triangulation Meter are programmed with the PC software supplied with the sensor. The PC Program receives data from the ODS Select-1 Laser Triangulation Meter and displays the measured distance on the PC screen. When the ODS Select-1 Laser Triangulation Meter is specifically hardwired the PC program is able to send data to the Meter. The sent instructions given are stored in the Meter's flash memory and are retained until the Meter is reprogrammed.

The Select-1 version can be operated in 4 modes of operation

Group mode - offering averaging after filtering out zero values.
Stop & Go - measuring activity via RS232.
Level mode - In this mode the measured output distance reading is reversed.
Extended thickness mode - In this mode the measuring range is doubled at half the resolution.

In Group mode the user can define a number of consecutive measurements to be a Group of values. The ODS Laser Triangulation Meter in this Mode is able to update the Group with a new measurement result at 1 kHz and output the Group average at the same rate. Furthermore the user can instruct the ODS Laser Triangulation Meter to disregard up to a certain number of void measurements with null-values in the Group, and have the output calculated as the average of the remaining values in the Group.

Select-2 Version

The optional Select-2 is the high performance version of the ODS Laser Triangulation Meter. The Select-2 version offers the benefits of increased measuring performance by run time programmability on:

Moving targets
Angled surfaces
Colorful surfaces
Shiny/difficult surfaces
Transparent surfaces

The Select-2 version obtain higher performance compared to the Standard models by:

Operating at twice the measuring and output frequency with a
Maximum Baud Rate of 11520
Utilizing mathematically optimized intensity control of the laser light
Offering elimination of light penetrating into partly transparent surfaces

-HT High Temperature

All ODS Laser Triangulation Meter are available with the -HT option. The ODS Laser Triangulation Meters with this option are designed for target surfaces with high temperatures up to 1200°C. The ODS -HT Meters are especially useful for use on very hot objects such as hot rolled steel or molten metals. The ODS -HT Meters are like other ODS Meters and designed to give good measuring accuracy over a large measuring range.

Laser Thickness Measurement - All ODS Laser Triangulation Meters will automatically transform into either the Master or the Slave of a two Laser Triangulation Meter Thickness Measuring System when connected to an identical ODS Laser Triangulation Meter.

All ODS Laser Triangulation Meters when connected to an identical(**) ODS model will automatically transform into the Master or the Slave of a two Laser Triangulation Meter Synchronized Thickness Measurement System.

The Master ODS Laser Triangulation Meter reads the digital distance data sent from the Slave ODS Laser Triangulation Meter over the RS232 serial interface. After taking its own distance information into account, the Master Laser Triangulation Meter will output the change in thickness to the serial interface as well as to the analog output.

The Laser Triangulation Meter are synchronized and will measure on semitransparent targets if they are wired to run at half the measuring frequency.

Thus a pair of ODS Laser Triangulation Meters will measure thickness, width or difference without any control box or special calibration from the factory.

This unique characteristic of the ODS Laser Triangulation Meters are available in the Select-1 version as well as in the Select-2 and -HT High Temperature Models.
